MomFolic 600 (L-Methyl Folate) is a dietary supplement for use in people who have conditions related to folate deficiency.

Conditions that can cause low folate levels include poor diet, pregnancy, alcoholism, liver disease, certain stomach/intestinal problems, kidney dialysis, among others. Women of childbearing age should receive adequate amounts of folic acid either through their diet or supplements to prevent infant spinal cord birth defects.

MomFolic® 600 Tablets contains folate as L-Methyl Folate which is the biologically active form of Folate. L-Methyl Folate is readily usable form of folate required by human body for certain metabolic processes. A lack (deficiency) of folate in the human body can be caused by certain diseases, by taking certain medications, or by not getting enough folate in diet. Folate deficiency can lead to decreased red blood cells, or anemia. Folate deficiency can also cause high levels of a certain amino acid in the blood, a condition called hyperhomocysteinemia. The importance of L-Methyl Folate is that it, unlike folic acid, can cross the blood brain barrier. It has been shown that many people have a genetic error called the MTHFR polymorphism that limits their body’s ability to reduce folic acid into L-Methyl Folate.
